BIDV Strengthens Vietnam – Laos Bilateral Relations

On the afternoon of July 23, 2025, in Hanoi, the Board of Management of BIDV held a working session with a delegation of senior officials (department-level and equivalent) from the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
On behalf of BIDV’s leadership, Mr. Le Ngoc Lam – Chief Executive Officer – introduced the bank’s 68-year development journey and highlighted key achievements in business performance, as well as BIDV’s commercial presence in Laos. Mr. Lam emphasized that Laos remains a strategic and long-term priority market for BIDV – a vital part of the bank’s regional integration, market expansion, brand development, and external relations strategy.

During the meeting, the Lao delegation expressed great interest in BIDV’s business experiences and success factors. They raised questions regarding the bank’s approach to navigating global uncertainties, its digital transformation strategy, and human resource policies, among others. Representing the Lao delegation, Mr. Maiphong Maixay – Party Committee Member, Rector of the University of Health Sciences (Ministry of Health), and Head of the Delegation – expressed his sincere gratitude for BIDV’s warm welcome. He congratulated BIDV on its remarkable accomplishments over the past 68 years and appreciated the bank’s continuous support for economic development projects, enterprise financing, and social welfare activities in Laos. He also affirmed that Lao Viet Bank – the joint venture between Vietnam and Laos – has become a meaningful symbol of effective bilateral cooperation.

Concluding the working session, Mr. Phan Duc Tu – Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of BIDV – reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to closely aligning with the orientations and support of the Party, Government, ministries, and Lao business community. He expressed BIDV’s dedication to ensuring that its commercial entities in Laos effectively fulfill their assigned economic and political tasks. Mr. Tu confirmed that BIDV will continue to allocate its best resources to support the future operations of Lao Viet Bank.

The success of the working session once again demonstrated BIDV’s proactive and responsible role in implementing Vietnam’s key diplomatic strategies and contributed meaningfully to nurturing the “great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation” between Vietnam and Laos – a relationship that will remain “evergreen and everlasting.”
