Through the event, BIDV reaffirmed its commitment to green finance and sustainability꧒, demonstrating its leadership in supporting businesses on their ESG journey. Recognizing ESG as a global standard and a key criterion for investment, BIDV has positioned green finance at the core of its sustainable development strategy to help enterprises reduce costs and access long-term, preferential capital. The bank has established a comprehensive Sustainable Finance Framework, including the Sustainable Loan Framework, Green Bond Framework, and Sustainable Bond Framework. BIDV offers a diversified portfolio of green financial instruments such as green loans, sustainability-linked loans, green and sustainable bonds, and green deposit products.
As of 31 December 2024, BIDV’s green credit balance reached VND80,870 billion, alongside the successful issuance of two rounds of green and sustainable bonds totaling VND5,500 billion, and the mobilization of VND 5,000 billion in green deposits. BIDV also has also facilitated access to international financing sources through ODA, co-financing, technical assistance and ESG bond advisory services. It maintains close cooperation with key international partners such as: AFD (Agence Française de Développement), with a credit line of EUR 50 million for climate and sustainability projects, World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) BIDV currently leads Vietnam’s banking sector in ODA and trust fund mobilization, commanding a market share of 21% To support clients further, BIDV has built strategic partnerships with nearly 50 global financial institutions, securing a total credit limit of up to USD 4 billion. These partnerships enable the bank to effectively execute large-scale financial programs aligned with national and global sustainable development goals. BIDV also provides ESG consulting services and facilitates connections between businesses, technology providers, and certification organizations to enhance the effectiveness of green transition initiatives.Commitment on the sustainable development journey
The workshop concluded with dynamic discussions on ESG opportunities and Vietnam’s broader, green transition efforts. Presentations from Gemadept and the World Bank highlighted practical support mechanisms and inspired enterprises to confidently advance their sustainability agendas. The event reaffirmed BIDV’s commitment to its “Green Bank” strategy, solidifying its role as a strategic partner to the Government and the business community in promoting sustainable development.
